Terms and conditions.
The plain-language version of what you're agreeing to when you register for Become a Builder in a Day. No surprises buried in here.
What you're registering for
A seat at one session of Become a Builder in a Day, run by Illumined Analytics. Each session runs a full day, 9am to 4pm Central, and is capped at 8 attendees.
Sessions run in person in Birmingham, Alabama; the exact site is confirmed by email before the workshop.
Price and payment
Seats are $499 each, charged in US dollars at checkout. When a session has an early-bird window, the discounted price and its cutoff date are shown on the training page; the price you pay is the one in effect at the moment you complete checkout. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
Your seat is confirmed once payment succeeds and you receive a confirmation email. Starting checkout holds a seat for 30 minutes but does not reserve it beyond that.
What's included
Digital copies of the course materials, templates, and a reference guide; ongoing access to our private Slack community; and a digital credential confirming you completed the workshop.
Lunch and coffee breaks are included.
What you need to bring
A Windows or Mac laptop you can install software on. Personal laptops work better than work laptops, which sometimes block installs.
A Claude Pro subscription (currently $20/month) is required for the workshop and is not included in your registration. Claude Max and ChatGPT Plus are optional and also not included. These are billed by their providers, not by us.
Transfers, switching, and refunds
Registrations are non-refundable.
You may transfer your seat to someone else at any time before the workshop — just let us know who's coming in your place.
You may also move to a later session if a seat is open there. Availability isn't guaranteed.
If something genuinely catastrophic comes up, get in touch. We'll work something out.
If we cancel or reschedule
If we cancel a session, or reschedule it to a date you can't make, you choose: a full refund, or a seat at a later session. This is the one case where a refund is always available.
We're not able to reimburse travel, lodging, or other costs you incur, so please book those with that in mind.
Setup support
A few days before the workshop we'll offer a short call to get your accounts and installs working, so day one can be spent building. Taking that call is optional but strongly recommended.
What we don't promise
You'll build and deploy something real during the day, and leave with a workflow you can repeat. We can't promise a specific business outcome, job result, or that any particular idea will be finishable in a single day. If your idea is too big for the time, we'll help you cut it down to a slice you can actually ship.
This workshop is aimed at beginners and intermediates. It is not designed for people who already write code professionally.
Your work is yours
Anything you build during the workshop belongs to you. Course materials, templates, and reference guides remain ours and are licensed to you for your own use — please don't redistribute or resell them.
We may take photos at the in-person session for our own marketing. Tell us if you'd rather not appear in them and we'll leave you out.
Conduct
These are small rooms, so this matters more than it would at a conference. We ask everyone to be decent to each other. We reserve the right to remove someone whose behavior is disrupting the session, without a refund.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability relating to your registration is limited to what you paid for your seat. We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including anything arising from code produced during or after the workshop. AI tools make mistakes; reviewing what you ship is your call and your responsibility.
Questions
Anything unclear here, get in touch before you register and we'll answer plainly.
