I started Illumined to help teams figure out which AI and analytics tools fit their work, then get good at using them.
I'm Stephen Hill, a native of Homewood, Alabama, and I earned my PhD in Operations Management from the University of Alabama. I've spent the last 18 years teaching data analytics and sports analytics, and I still do. That's the day job. Illumined is the practice that runs alongside it, where I take on analytics and AI training and consulting outside the classroom.
I've taught in just about every setting you can teach in: face-to-face and online, undergrads and grad students, professional development courses, and international classrooms. Along the way I've picked up a few teaching awards.
Outside the classroom, I build things: tools, scripts, and fixes for problems I keep running into. I watch a lot of sports (basically any sport you can name) and I travel when I can. At home it's a wife, two school-age kids, two dogs, and four cats.

We talk in regular sentences, even when the topic is technical. Especially then.
Hand off, don't hover
When the engagement ends, your team should own the practice. We stay reachable, but we shouldn't be load-bearing.
